by Louth Darts on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at 12:20pm Great night had by all in Byrnes, Castlebellingham. Full on crack from the start. Paula Daly got an acheivement award for beating her first 3 opponents in the Glydeanddistrict Darts League last year, then she went on and beat the up and comming John Donnelly in a practice match. Conor Mcardle played in the county kit for the first time and gave a fine performance with a 2-0 victory. Mickey Mcmahon , Alan Reenan, Owen Caffrey, Mickey Kelly and Carl Thomas all gave good accounts of themselves. The young Conor Mackin was overcome by the veteran Seamus Daly in a nailbiter. Joe Finnegan who has over 20 years with the county came up against the county chairman Barney Grimes with 2 good performances for the crowd.(between them, they have over 50 years on the county). Both Derek Hernon and Gerard Rice showed an urgency in finishing there games with Gerard hitting 1 of few 180's on the night. The final score was 10-1 to the county . Hubert Smith and Paul Mckeever played very well for Byrnes on the night.
Mickey and the patrons were all very happy with the night and asked us back soon.
Thanks everyone for coming to support. Ray Makenna and Tara Fleming were there from the committee.
Next outing for the county is a full squad event against a newry selection in the Stags Head on sat 20th August at 5.00pm.
