DECEMBER THE 9TH SEEN THE SECOND ANNUAL NORTH EAST COUNTY CHALLENGE BETWEEN LOUTH, MONAGHAN, CAVAN AND A MIXED TEAM FROM THE 3 COUNTIES. LOUTH MISSED OUT ON THE FINAL BY ONE GAME AND CAVAN AND MONAGHAN BATTLED IT OUT FOR THE TITLE. CAVAN WON THROUGH IN THE END AND NOW HAVE THE TITLE OF
FAIRWAYS NORTH EAST CHALLENGE CHAMPIONS. WELL DONE LADS.
The turfsmans in Ardee was the venue for the first of this years Louth County Darts Trials.
After a disappointing display in Last years All Ireland Team competition held in Ennis County Clare. and added to that a number of retirements from County Darts. A number of places on the County team have been put up for grabs.
This years selection process has changed from the round robin system of last year in that,this year is a knockout format where each win gives County Ranking points to the player.
The Two finalists on the day will be secured a place on the County Panel and after six trials. This should allow for the top twelve players in the county to be selected while the remaining Twelve on the panel will come from those with the best points score.
The first trial saw over Twenty players contest in yesterdays Men competition. Players from both Dundalk League, Glyde league and the Duleek and District Dart league were involved.
The darts on the day were of a high standard and some surprises were seen with Robert Wallace from Soraghans in the Glyde league beating Silvio Malloca of the Stags Head in the DDDL. Tadhg Meegan from the Rock Inn beat Isaac Smith of the Martlets in Dundalk.
The youths competition was ran with no entrance fee and a good group of players travelled from Dundalk to throw on the day. The Connolly brothers and the finnegan.boys showed that they can throw as well as any
